Last weekend was beautiful. Sid had the entire weekend off as well, so it was extra great.
We spent the weekend in full Fall activities. We went to Rocky Creek Farm to pick out pumpkins. We got a Sid pumpkin, Elizabeth pumpkin and an Emma pumpkin. Emma got to go inside a teepee and crawl on and through hay bails. We visited a lone donkey in a field, but skipped the hay ride.
We then went on to a pumpkin carving party. Sid was the master carver and Emma got to visit with puppies Pip and Ruppert. After a lot of licking, Emma met Wilma (our friend's mother). After that we did not see Emma for at least 1/2 an hour. She was off visiting and socializing with Wilma.

Life with Emma (in video)
Here are 2 short video clips of "Life with Em". Both show Emma to be a highly focused individual.
This one illustrates how she is a little too good at not listening to her mother's comments....Already!?
Emma, her dad and his hat.

Go Obama (Part II)
I went to my second volunteer meeting for Obama on Saturday. The staffers really believe Obama can win Montana; if all the independents and registered Dems vote. Research shows that if people who are on the fence or rare voters are called (or better yet visited) in person and asked about voting, they are more likely to vote. And, more likely to vote for the caller/visitor's candidate. That is where we volunteer's come in. Yehaw. What it seems I am willing to do for this guy! Emma too (as you can see by the sticker).
Here, Emma is using her charms of persuasion to convince her Dad to vote early, so he can be taken off the call/visit list and we can focus on more "fence"/"less likely to vote" people.
Since humor wasn't working, it seems she is now resorting to the "I'm serious about this, Dad" tack.
Emma on the move for Obama......
Okay, you might be wondering with all these blog entries, what isn't Elizabeth doing with her time? Well it is snowing. I'm couped up. It is evening. Emma is sleeping and Sid is sleeping before going to work. SNL isn't on. I am out of Heroes episodes. I am tired of reading about Iraq, the economy and the presidential race. And finally, it seems my friends are tired of hearing my Obama spiels....
So I do this. Next, I play on-line Scrabble with my friend Megan (she is real). She lives in NH. She is an old friend from H.S.

Just one week ago...
To get away from all the politics, "Go Obama", "No Palin, No How" (and to help ease my rising blood pressure), Emma and I went for a hike up Drinking Horse Mtn. This was just last weekend mind you. For this weekend's weather conditions, see next blog entry.
I call this one: into the sun Baby Buddha.
Sid and I are trying to get Emma to drink something other than milk, from something other than a bottle. This massive nalgene is probably not the best recourse for that end. I was hoping the the sugar water therein (aka VitaJuice) would help. No dice. It does make a nice arm brace for a baby action shot. What is Emma holding-that I am letting her hold- do you ask? Pepper spray. Don't worry the saftey was on. Still, not wise I know.
Emma seems to also know that me letting her hold this spray is not a good mother choice. She seems to be asking me and the camera, "Why exactly is my mother letting me hold this? Mom, don't you know better?"
"Well if you are going to let me, I'll just put it in my mouth."
"Actually mom, no good. I shouldn't have this. Here, be a good mom and take it back."
Ah, our daughter.
Wise beyond her year.

I didn't think it was mockable, but I was wrong
Last Tuesday's Town Hall debate was so "straight up" that I didn't think it could work to make fun of it. Obviously the guys and gals at SNL are better at finding comedy in grinding politics than I.
Here is Sarah Palin too. Wow! Very funny!
After this, I will get back to Emma I promise.

Oh boy do I like to read
Okay, so it seems that Emma likes books. Right now she is especially keen on an "I-Spy" book. I'm not sure where it came from. But, it is good. Lots of pictures of "things".
Emma likes to look at her I-Spy book after breakfast and lunch. After dinner she takes a bath, so there is no time for reading then. Sorry.
She especially likes to "read" in the car. It seems she is not prone to car sickness.
Though she does not particularly like it when I interrupt her reading with pictures. As you can see by the dead-pan, "stop that, mom" look.

Emma w/camera in her new outfit
Debbie and family gave Emma a cute dress/leggings outfit for her birthday. And mocassins! But, those are too big still. It has been very warm here anyway, in the high 70s, so there is no rush.
Thanks Debbie for the outfit. She looks very cute in her birthday clothes! :-)
Emma is crawling, pulling up, standing solo, and walking (with help) these days. She has recently taken to our camera; the one in her hand is an old one, sans batteries.
